Ray Lodato has extensive experience working with residents of the 1st District to improve our communities. Now he is running to bring his dedication and commitment to Congress. Our district has produced leaders who have made a difference at many levels of government–cities, counties, the State of Illinois and, of course, the White House. It’s time to have a Representative in Washington who has the energy and ideas to bring 21st Century solutions to the problems we face.

 

Ray Lodato brings to his campaign a record of leadership for 1st District communities. He helped found a community organization that combined job training for residents of public housing with green development in low-income neighborhoods, and served as Chair of the Local School Council at his neighborhood public school. He’s been a staff member for independent, progressive elected officials, and has also worked in many campaigns for progressive candidates, including Barack Obama, Toni Preckwinkle, Barbara Flynn Currie, Leslie Hairston, and numerous judicial candidates. For his efforts, he was awarded the Edwin Astrin Award by the Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization (IVI-IPO), where he also served on the State Board of Directors for over 10 years.

 

Ray received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago and currently works at a research firm in Chicago. He also is a Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of Chicago. He’s been happily married for 14 years and is the proud father of three sons.
