Biography of Dave Lockwood from Dave Lockwood for Congress

I grew up as the son of a Methodist minister in Illinois in the 1950s and 1960s. We were assigned churches throughout northern Illinois. I went to Senn High School in Chicago and then earned an undergraduate Civil Engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1975. In 1998, I earned a Masters degree from the University of Maryland’s University College.

My father was active in the Civil Rights movement and I was privileged to march with Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1964 in Cicero, Illinois at the age of 11. As a Boy Scout, I was senior patrol leader of a troop hosted by a Jewish synagogue and saw first-hand the concentration camp numerals tattooed into the arms of two of the Assistant Scoutmasters. I am a strong supporter of the state of Israel.

After college, I worked at a bank and then at Pan American World Airways. Pan Am was my first experience with the fallacy of ignoring financial realities. From Pan Am, I moved to the Middle East to work for the national airlines of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. These experiences have given me a unique understanding of all sides in that region.

More recently, I established a consulting company, Strategy Management, Inc., and advise information technology development at the Internal Revenue Service.

I have been happily married to my wife Déjà for 29 years. My wife and I are blessed with five wonderful children. If I have nothing else, I am blessed with great joy in my family.
